Nice overview, I hear some say, but… what about the Soul?
Are we ourselves the Soul?
No, not really, we àre the Self - pure, unbounded, divine, creative consciousness - and we possess a Soul.
We do have a Soul, a Mind and a Body. This categorization in three is very well known, isn’t it, and it simplifies and summarizes the categorization in seven: The first three bodies - seen from the Self - form that what is traditionally called the Soul.
Thus, the Soul consists of three layers, you might say:
The first and most essential level forms the awareness of happiness, bliss.
The second, middle level forms the sense of identity, the individual self, or ego.
The third level consists of true knowledge, wisdom.
The next two bodies, the mental and the emotional body, comprise the Mind. Thinking and feeling are its natural functions. The two lowest bodies, the vitality and the physical body, form the visible, living earthly Body.
